When it comes to things of a sexual nature, most of us are automatically intrigued. So often we’re taught that sex outside of marriage and embracing one’s sexuality is a taboo, which actually makes it that much more appealing.
And when it comes to dating and matters of the heart, it’s like dealing with a teenager… unpredictable!
Which is why Google has had its fair share of questions and concerns with regards to sex and dating. This poor search engine has had a lot of questions to answer, especially all of the things we’re too afraid to ask our parents, friends, or family members!
With that, surely we’re all a little curious as to what kinds of questions Google is helping people with re: sex and dating?
Lucky for us, a company called Civil Health dug a little deeper and managed to get the most Googled sex and dating questions of 2019. Here they are ranked from highest to lowest.
We’ve also answered your burning questions, in case you were still curious...
What is Ghosting?
Ghosting, in the dating world, is when someone completely shuts off all communication with someone they’re seeing.
There’s no explanation, no long-winded goodbyes, and zero arguments because the person who has decided to ‘ghost’ their partner, disappears.
Ghosting is a cruel and cowardly way in which to end something, and gives the receiver no closure and no ability to get their questions answered.
On the flip side however, it may be comforting to know that if someone has been ghosted, it’s not a reflection of them, but rather the person who did it to them. In other words, a bullet has been dodged.
Sex on a First Date?
This is an age old question, and can be a pretty big one for some.
For one, many fear that having sex on a first date can lead to a lack of respect and or a slew of insults.
On the other hand, one may be happy and eager to exercise their right to be sexually empowered and explorative.
To have sex on a first date is a personal choice, but should definitely be thought about well in advance to avoid regret or any other uncomfortable emotions.
Dating a Colleague, Yes or No?
We aren’t party poopers, and we are certainly not going to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do when it comes to getting intimate with a colleague.
We will however remind you that every place of business has their own policies, rules and regulations regarding personal relationships between colleagues. Probably for the best that you check that out before getting frisky.
Also, considering the long term may also be useful. What if it doesn’t work out, and you’ll have to see them every week day at the office? Hashtag awkward.
What is Breadcrumbing?
Breadcrumbing, to some, is arguably worse than ghosting, as it pertains to keeping a person on some kind of (sexual) leash.
When someone feels like getting flirty or perhaps feels lonely or rejected, they reach out to another who they know will reciprocate those sexual advances, and or make them feel better.
The ‘breadcrumber’ has no intention of moving any further than these advancements though.
Has someone recently been sliding into your DM’s or hitting you up out of the blue with some shady messages? Watch out for it, it may be breadcrumbing.
What is Gaslighting?
Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation that gives someone power. It’s a process of saying and doing things at such a slow speed, that the victim rarely knows that it’s happening (brainwashing).
Despite being unaware, the victim may start to question their own reality.
The person doing the gaslighting will lie, deny, and use whatever they can as ammunition. They too will try to alienate you from people and things that you love (think of a cult).
What’s even more crazy about gaslighting, is that the person will throw in positive comments and reinforcement to throw you off.
Have we managed to satisfy all of your sex and dating curiosity? At the very least, we’ve given Google a well-deserved break, right?
