It’s true that the word ‘fetish’ often holds negative connotations. And for those who aren’t all that sexually experienced or open-minded, a fetish is thought of as ‘strange’ or ‘weird’. Perhaps you’re even unsure as to what a fetish actually is!
A fetish is a desire for something specific (sexual or non-sexual) that gives one sexual stimulation. This could be anything from touching, watching, engaging in, or looking at something or someone.
And in today’s sexual health lesson, we’re going to help remove the stigma against sexual fetishes. We’re going to do this by introducing you to five intriguing fetishes that are actually pretty darn great and more common than you may have thought.
Swinging is participating in group sex and can be enjoyed by either singles or couples. The act is common among those in an open relationship as well as those singletons who enjoy multiple partners, watching and being watched.
Oftentimes, those who engage in swinging on a regular basis, call this practice a lifestyle. And while some may feel that this sexual practice can be harmful for a relationship or marriage, swingers believe that it actually brings two people closer together.
This is because it removes the aspect of cheating and lying, and is a way for both partners to have a varied and spicy sex life.
Role playing is something everyone has experienced in one form of another – from imaginary friends as a child to doing performances during a school recital. And the act of role playing has actually followed many into adulthood and transformed itself into that of a sexual nature. Hint: adult role playing is way more fun!
Picture a scenario or a type of person or situation that turns you on. Sexual roleplaying is simply re-enacting it. The choices are seemingly limitless, and you could try one of several role playing games such as doctor and nurse, boss and secretary, or teacher and student.
For those with very specific scenarios in mind, vocalise it with your partner. It can’t hurt to add a dash of spice in the bedroom and it’s only a bit of fun, no one’s judging!
You would be surprised at the amount of singles and couples who enjoy golden showers i.e. the act of urinating on someone or being urinated on. And one may be interested in or enjoy this sexual fetish for a number of reasons.
One, it can be a power play between a dominant and a submissive. Two, it is seen as taboo thus enhancing the intrigue and curiosity. Three, it could be a product of a different fetish that is – diaper fetish. And four, one may just enjoy being or watching another degraded and humiliated.
Simply put, a cuckold is the husband of an adulterous wife. And while the act of being cheated on is devastating for some, it’s a complete turn on for others. Some men actually enjoy watching their partner engage in sexual acts with another man.
Interestingly, this fetish has grown exponentially over the last few years, with Google searches for it peaking higher and higher each year.
Again, one may be interested in this fetish as it is a taboo and literally, a sin. But also, there is the ritual of coming home to a partner and doing a play-by-play of the events that transpired that night. That is a big turn on for a lot of men (and women).
There is absolutely no doubt that since the collection of books and films, 50 Shades of Grey, women especially have found themselves more and more intrigued by the BDSM (Bondage, Discipline, Sadism, Masochism) lifestyle.
Bondage is consensual tying, binding or restraining a partner for erotic and or aesthetic purposes. And in actuality, the act of using the material to tie, bind, or restrain another can be rather therapeutic, artistic, and ritualistic.
Engaging in bondage is yet another form of power play between couples, and each experience a different kind of pleasure from either restraining or being restrained.
With that, we want to point out that sexual fetishes are so multi-faceted, and people enjoy a variety of things for different reasons. Whatever the fetish however, there is nothing more satisfying than being sexually free! So, we strongly recommend that you go forth and curb your sexual appetite with whatever you’re your lusting over!
